Describe the plot of your movie (or TV show): The Powell children’s father is away in the navy, and Charles helps their mother by being in charge of the kids.   Who do you play (name of character and description of personality)?: Sarah Powell. Unselfish, trustworthy, generous, practical, kind, forgiving… very much like myself. How similar/dissimilar are you in real life to your character? In real life I don’t act. I just pretend to be the character. It’s very easy for me because I like Sarah, almost as much as she likes me. What was the funniest experience you had filming -off-camera, that is: When I was little, my dad was filming me riding down the hill in my red wagon. I turned to sharply but kept going straight ahead. In Charles In Charge we don’t film, we tape. Who else is in the movie (or TV show)? Give names and characters: Scott Baio – Charles Willie Aames – Buddy Lembeck Ellen Travolta – Lillian Nicole Eggert – Jamie Powell Alexander Polinsky – Adam Powell Sandra Kerns – my mom and of course my grandpa Jim Callahan. Did you become particularly close to any fellow actors? It was impossible not to. I love them like my own family. What’s the best part of being in the acting business? The satisfaction knowing you did the best you could. What’s the worst part? Forgetting the words the writers wrote for me, in front of a big audience. How important is it to take drama classes? (Did you, do you?): I think it’s a very good experience. And if you get the right teacher like I had at LA Film Actors Lab, you’re really prepared for when you get a job. How did you get into acting in the first place? I thought it was neat seeing my brother on television. My dad said, “would you like to do that?” I said, “yeah!” So he shot some pictures of me, (he’s a photographer) took them to an agent (Booh Schut) and she liked me. Have you ever been in any commercials (please list): Soney, Super Sugar Crisp, Taco Bell, Bank Commercials, 2 Texas Opticals, Ford, Kool-Aid, Fruit Roll-ups, Citrus Hill Select, FTD Florists.
